CLASS POLICIES

REGISTRATION:
Payment is due at time of registration. Space is often limited. We encourage you to register early.
CANCELLATION:
If Quilter's Way cancels a class for lack of registration, you will receive a full refund of your class fee. You may cancel your registration up to 2 weeks prior to the class and receive a store credit. This policy gives us the chance to find a replacement for your class seat. NO REFUND will be given if we receive your cancellation later than 2 weeks before the class date. PLEASE do not ask us to make an exception for you.
SUPPLIES:
A supply list will be provided for each class. When a pattern or book is required, we expect each student to own a copy. We respect and honor all copyright laws.

Just learning to sew or want to learn? Stymied with a technique? Have a project you want to start or finish? Want to try something new? Each student designs his or her own class in this studio. Karen is happy to help with small home decorating projects, work on basic sewing skills or give you any kind of help you need.
*Scrap Therapy Cutting Workshop with Ruth McFarland

This workshop, for Scrap Therapy members only, is an opportunity to whip your scraps into a few standard sizes so that making Scrap Therapy quilts is a real snap!

*Beginning Quiltmaking with Karen Pulaski
DATE: Thursday, Jan 17, 24, 25, 31, Feb 7, 14, 28, Mar 6 TIME: 6:00pm-8:30pm FEE: $100
This class will guide you through the construction of a 6-block wall-hanging sampler from beginning to end. Each block will teach you different aspects of quilting that can be used again in future quilts. You’ll cover a variety of machine piecing techniques and finish with an overview of machine quilting and binding. Required book: Quilts, Quilts, Quilts
*Machine Quilting I with Karen Pulaski
DATE: Sunday, Jan 20 TIME: 1:00pm-6:00pm FEE: $45
Learn how to quilt your quilt! The instructor will give a small trunk show, talk about batting, needles, threads and anything else you need to know to successfully begin quilting those tops. You’ll make a small sampler using various quilt designs. Your biggest accomplishment will be a better understanding of your sewing machine. Book required.
*Kids Learn to Sew with Jane Barnett
DATE: Tuesday, Jan 22, 29, Feb 5, 12, 26, Mar 4 TIME: 3:30pm-5:00pm FEE: $75
This class will involve making a variety of small projects designed to teach the basic skills of machine sewing. The class will cover the safe use of sewing machines and sewing tools and essential sewing skills. Students will also learn how to read a basic pattern and follow step-by-step instructions independently. Projects that have been included in previous classes include: PJ bottoms, pillows, overnight bags, pillow cases, skirts, small quilts, cell phone cases and tote bags.
*English Paper Piecing with Marianne Hatton
DATE: Tuesday, Jan 22, Feb 5, 19 TIME: 6:00am-9:00pm FEE: $65
This is a traditional hand-piecing technique which is portable and adaptable to a variety of quilt styles. It can result in lovely outcomes including three-dimensional effects, by playing with the shading of the hexagons or trading hexagons for triangles or diamonds. Previous students have expressed how soothing it is to have a project that can be worked on anywhere, anytime.

*Learn to Quilt by Hand with Gail Rowe
DATE: Friday, Jan 25, Feb 8 TIME: 10:00am-1:00pm FEE: $50 + kit
Are you intrigued by the idea of quilting by hand? We've designed a this class with your success in mind. In the first class, you'll get right to it, practicing the quilting stitch on a pre-marked quilt square. The second class will deal with all the details: thread, needles, marking the quilt and let you practice a variety of quilting motifs on a small sampler you've made yourself.
*Scrappy Curves with Gail Baker Rowe
DATE: Saturday, Jan 26 and Feb 16 TIME: 1:00pm-5:00pm FEE: $65
This class is for the Advanced Beginner or above. While creating a traditional Grandmother’s Fan quilt, you will learn the easy tricks that make piecing curves enjoyable. You will be using shape templates in this class.

*Wool Block-of-the-Month Introduction with Donna Whalen
DATE: Tuesday, Jan 29 TIME: 6:00am-9:00pm FEE: $25
This class is designed as an introduction to the Folk Art Album Wool Block-of-the-Month and a review of the basic techniques that will make your participation in the BOM more enjoyable. Learn from the master! Donna will share her block preparation secrets and review the embroidery stitches you'll use throughout the program.
